April has not happened but all is go for October!

Still waiting for Darwin Study Tour but it will happen!!

Unfortunately, we needed to cancel the April trip because of COVID considerations. Whilst incredibly disappointing, the good news is that the trip has been re-scheduled for 1-11 October this year.

The itinerary has been completed and booked with only a few changes. The main reason for the changes is that we do not now have Anzac Day commitments in Darwin, and as a result we can spend more time adventuring in Kakadu and Arnhem Land. The new trip looks fantastic and we now have to wait another 6 month before the group finally has the trip to share and learn from.

Whilst it has been a long wait, the staff are determined that this will be a great trip for you all. We will probably meet as a group before October because in June a new group of Premier Anzac Spirit School Prize awardees will be announced and presented with their medallions and certificates - you will all be invited to that ceremony if it is held before October.  I will keep in touch as the months proceed but in the meantime, have a good look at the new itinerary and get excited about the journey ahead of us.  The itinerary can be accessed at https://www.dropbox.com/s/8mjoph369uvi1rd/Study%20Tour%20October%202022%20Itinerary.pdf?dl=0

ANZAC Day is next week and I am sure you are all working out the best place to commemorate the sacrifices of our service personnel over the years. I am proud to tell you that again this year, one of the past Premier Anzac Spirit School Prize awardees will be making the keynote speech at the Youth Vigil at the National War Memorial, North Terrace on Anzac Day eve. The speaker is Jasmine Baker who was one of the 2020 awardees. Jasmine was interviewed on ABC Radio by Peter Goers last night (Wednesday 20 April - between 7.30-8.30pm). Here is the link to the interview on ABC Radio with Jasmine https://www.abc.net.au/radio/adelaide/programs/evenings/evenings/13839942  (from 25 minutes to 29.35  minutes.

2021 awardees, Olivia Turner and Gemma Mann will participate in the wreath laying ceremony on behalf of the Premier Anzac Spirit School Prize awardees at the Youth Vigil on Sunday night. If you are interested in attending, the vigil will be from 6pm on Sunday the 24th of April 2022 to 6am the next day. After a formal ceremony at 6pm, young Australians conduct a night-long guard of honour around the National War Memorial on the corner of North Terrace and Kintore venue.

These roles at such events are part of the commemoration responsibilities for awardees and I look forward to some of you making a similar contribution next year after our trip to Darwin.
